Each puzzle’s fifteen words are chosen for a reason. The companion on this site explains those reasons, and shows where each explanation comes from.

Word selection

For every word in every puzzle we record why it belongs: the verse, place, event, or idea that connects it to the puzzle and its chapter. Where a word is unfamiliar or old-fashioned, we add a short meaning. Where there is something more worth knowing, we add a “Did you know?” note.

Sources on every entry

Each explanation links to the source it rests on. Scripture follows the King James Version. History and nature entries cite archives, agencies, and reference works. A broad reference for a whole puzzle is never presented as line-by-line verification of every word.

Photographs

Photographs come from public archives and licensed collections. Each one carries its credit, license, and a link to the original record. When a photograph shows a related place or species rather than the exact subject, the caption says so.

Photographs may use an archive’s JPEG rendition or a display conversion, and we serve smaller WebP copies where supported. We don't alter what they show. Images under Creative Commons licences keep their own licence and attribution, including share-alike terms, and no blanket site copyright applies to them. National Park Service photographs are selected by their individual credits. No claim to original U.S. Government works.

Faith editions

We distinguish what scripture says from later tradition, traditional locations, and modern artifacts, so readers can see which is which.
